"I wished my dad had forgiven me before he passed away." At his funeral, Murphy Afolabi's first kid sobbed openly.

The first son of Nollywood producer and actor Murphy Afolabi has asked for his pardon. The actor's son admitted during his burial on Monday that he wronged his father before he passed away but was never given the chance to apologize. He revealed that a month before to his passing, he had visited his father, who had shockingly given him a sizable sum of money and instructed him to bring his wife and children. Unaware of it, he was having his father's final encounter. Despite everything, he was grateful to the late actor for raising him as a father.

“He was a father to me, I appreciate all that he did for me. Even though I offended him, he should forgive me wherever he is. When I saw him last month, he never told me he is leaving me. He gave me over N100,000 and told me to go bring my wife and day”.

His junior colleague and former student, Bimpe Akintunde, also spoke out upon his passing; nonetheless, it was her eulogy that stuck out the most. Former employee of Murphy Afolabi, Bimpe Akintunde, recalled how despite their strained relationship, he helped pave the road for her and stood by her. She referred to him as her employer and insisted that Wasila Coded would not exist without him. She described how she unexpectedly welcomed him when she saw him at an event a week before his passing. She claimed that she used to ignore the actor at occasions and never gave him a greeting.

However, he reacted to her greeting that day and never harbored resentment toward her. She observed how patient he was with her and how he never reacted badly when she didn't say hello or spoke to him. Bimpe Akintunde stated that she wouldn't have been able to forgive herself for not greeting him when they last crossed paths.
