‘You wasted taxpayers money’  Paul Okoye criticizes INEC for manipulating the transfer of election results.

Paul Okoye, a singer, has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the dishonest way that election results were reported. The transfer of election results by INEC employees at various polling places around the nation, it is said, wasn't transparent since the results were reportedly changed to favor a specific political party. Paul criticized the electoral body for their inefficiency on his Instagram stories. The father of three questioned why INEC spent nearly two billion dollars on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which was designed to facilitate transmit results electronically but was ultimately ineffective. He and his twin brothers have been vociferous about the 2023 election.

He also pointed out that INEC had spent taxpayer money and succeeded in defaming the nation abroad.

“Why spend almost $2billion for election on BVAS… promised Nigerians and assuring them that result will be transmitted electronically. Only to end up transferring manually. @inecnigeria Y’all just internationally disgraced Nigerians. Big shame!!! You just wasted tax payers money for nothing!!!

Adekunle Gold, a colleague of Okoye, also criticized INEC for being an irresponsible body in the wake of electoral irregularities.

He tweeted: “Nah! INEC is the most irresponsible organization.”

Ruth Kadiri threatens to sue INEC

Ruth Kadiri, a Nollywood actress, threatens to sue INEC over the Nigerian election. She also questioned NEC's strategy for disseminating results across various voting divisions. The mother of two shared her opinion that INEC employees are necessary for politicians to manipulate elections. She argued that rather than presenting election results at the state or federal levels, the electoral authority should do so based on polling places. Citizens would be able to readily confirm the results and that their votes were counted in this way.

She wrote: “INEC has proven to be the most fraudulent; politicians cannot rig the election without INEC. And I wonder how we have missed the point all this while…I know the number of my polling unit same way with every other person. So if INEC is giving us results, they should give us results based on our polling unit, the worst that can happen is that they will tell us certain number of votes are ineligible. This rigging of election will not work, we will sue INEC”.

In response to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC's) inefficiency, music executive Soso Soberekan threatened legal action.

Soso Soberekon, who expressed dissatisfaction with the commission, pointed out that commission employees were sloppy and late for their polling places. He promised to sue them as a result.

He wrote: “I am taking INEC to Court. A lot of Nigerians are not able to vote due to late arrivals and disorganized arrangements by @inecnigeria and it’s officials”.
