Folarin slams Oyo Governor Makinde for using an assistant as PMS boss and challenges him on the death of Eleweomo.

Teslim Folarin, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Oyo, has dared Governor Seyi Makinde to address the death of Lateef Salako, also known as Eleweomo. In late December 2010, as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, local government conference was taking place, the previous NURTW chairman of Oyo was slain. Two of Folarin's followers were shot and killed by thugs who attacked the PDP chairman at the time and his entourage. Following the tragedy, the acting chairman of the Ona-Ara Local Government, Tunde Olayiwola, blamed himself while accusing Folarin's supporters of killing Eleweomo. On Wednesday, Folarin attacked Makinde for selecting "an ex-convict" for a debate the proprietors of Splash FM organized for prominent governorship candidates in Oyo.

The senator for Oyo Central charged that the governor appointed Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, as the chairman of the Park Management System (PMS) despite the fact that he had been found guilty. He was given a six-year prison term in 2016 for conspiracy to commit murder by Judge Eni Esan of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan. The March 2014 altercation at the Iwo Road interchange resulted in the prosecution of the PMS chairman, Saidi Kareem, Abu Kareem, and Kazeem Kayode. Medical student Adekunle Oladipupo was among those killed.

Auxiliary was arraigned for allegedly destroying APC billboards on November 13, 2022, and the trial will resume on April 27 at the Chief Magistrates' Court in Ibadan.

“Let’s assume they wanted to set up PMS, look at the leadership. The person they made the leader is an ex-convict,” Folarin asserted at the discourse.

“What message is the government trying to pass across? The reason they set up the PMS is to terrorise the citizens. That is the truth.”

Makinde responded at the capital's International Conference Centre, objecting to Folarin's mention of Auxiliary and pointing out that he is in possession of Eleweomo's case file.
“The person calling someone an ex-convict…who killed Eleweomo? And where is the file? It is still with me as the governor of Oyo State. It’s a criminal case. I don’t want to bring it up right now,” he said.
Folarin, however, berated Makinde for making such remarks and dared him to prosecute anyone suspected to have carried out the assassination of the late union leader.
“Just because you’re the governor doesn’t give you the right to make irresponsible allegations. If you know who murdered Eleweomo and you have the file, I dare you to charge the person to court,” the APC flagbearer retorted.
