The wives of the Ooni of Ife graciously welcome a new queen to the palace.

The women of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, were present to welcome a new wife to the palace. Over the weekend, Sooko Laekun Prince Abimbola Ogunwusi, the eldest brother of the Ooni, married Princess Olayemi. The Ooni's Queens, Olori Mariam, Olori Aderonke, and Olori Temitope, were present for the royal wedding. The Queens could be seen beaming in the YouTube video as they joyfully welcomed the new wife to the palace. The Ooni's string of marriages grabbed headlines in October. Nine months after Prophetess Seyi Naomi declared on Instagram that she was divorcing the Ooni of Ife, in September 2022, he invited Mariam Anako, an Ebira-born queen, to his castle on the island of Ife. He had married six additional women in the three weeks following the birth of Mariam.

Mariam Anako and Dr. Elizabeth Akinmuda were married by the queen in September. He wedded Queen Ashley, Queen Ronke Ademiluyi, and Queen Tobi Phillips in October. He currently has Princess Temitope Adesegun as his sixth wife, and he will soon wed a seventh. On the occasion of his 48th birthday and seventh anniversary of being king, Ooni addressed his string of marriages and explained his motivations for doing so. The Ooni indicated that he attempted to make several adjustments but was unable. The monarch, perhaps alluding to his choice to have concubines in addition to a single queen, declared of Ile Ife's cultural history, "This institution is bigger than me, beyond me. More than 800, almost 1,000 people are housed in this palace. Some residents of this palace have been here for more than 60 years, while others have done so for more than 80. In this palace, some residents are over 100 years old. I tried to dispute it, but it blew in my face, so thank God I'm still here. If I had my way. It is a place with a rich history, culture, and traditions.
