Burna Boy receives two Grammy nominations in 2023.


 







Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, a Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer, has received two nominations for the upcoming 2023 Grammy Awards.

The Port Harcourt-born singer has received back-to-back nominations for the prestigious award show, which will be held on February 5, 2023.

Burna Boy was nominated in the "Best Global Music Performance" category alongside Arooj Aftab and Anoushka, Matt B and Eddy Kenzo, Rocky Dawuni featuring Blvk H3ro, Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode for his single 

He was also nominated for "Best Global Music Album" for his album "Love, Damini," alongside Berklee Indian Ensemble, Angélique Kidjo and Ibrahim Maalouf, Anoushka Shankar, Metropole Orkest, and Jules Buckley featuring Manu Delago and Masa Takumi.

This comes just a few days after he was named 'Best African Act' at the MTV EMAS 2022.

According to reports, Burna Boy, who won the award for the second time, beat out other nominees such as Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Black Sherif (Ghana), Musa Keys (South Africa), and Zuchu.

Tems, a Nigerian singer, was defeated by the South Korean boy band Seventeen, who won the category of 'best new artiste.'
