At Governor Ademola Adeleke's inauguration festival today, November 28, 2022, singer Davido was the main draw. Many of the attendees were ecstatic to see Davido there, and they couldn't stop applauding and hailing him. Davido had to take a seat and wave joyfully back at the delighted guest because the affection was so intense. Ademola Adeleke, a senator, was sworn in as the next governor of Osun state on Sunday. After that, Adeleke addressed the audience with his inaugural address. Adeleke pledged to evaluate the choices made by previous state administrations during his inauguration speech. Segun Oladitan, the head of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, was also suspended by the governor (OSIEC). According to Tesleem Igbalaye, secretary to the state government, the OSIEC chairwoman and commission members' suspension is based on allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of power.
“Gov. Adeleke has directed the immediate suspension of the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Mr Segun Oladitan. Others are Mr Yusuf Oyeniran, Alhaja Suibat Adubi, Prince Yinka Ajiboye, Mrs Abosede Omibeku, Mr Dosu Gidigbi and Mr Wahab Adewoyin,” the statement reads.
The governor said the secretary of the commission will act in place of the chairperson pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
“This suspension is sequel to several petitions bothering on financial impropriety, dereliction of duty, absenteeism and abuse of office against the said Chairman and members of the Commission,” he said.
“Pending the outcome of the investigation, the secretary of the commission shall hold forth in running the affairs of the commission.”
