Tems appreciates working with Rihanna in honor of Chadwick Booseman.

Temilade Openinyi, a Nigerian artist better known by her stage name Tems, has expressed her sincere gratitude to Rihanna for their work together on the song she co-wrote for the Barbadian diva. For the first time since her 2016 album, Anti, Rihanna, 34, has released a brand-new song as a solo artist, titled "Lift Me Up," for the film "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Tems, Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson, and the movie's director, Ryan Coogler, all contributed to the song's writing. It pays homage to the late Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020 following a personal fight with colon cancer that he was diagnosed with in 2016. Marvel Studios announced on social media on Tuesday, October 25th, that the Rihana will be on the soundtrack for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Tems. 27, who is 27, posted on her instagram profile to express her gratitude for having co-written the song in Chadwick Boseman's honor and for hearing the baddest Rihannah perform it flawlessly.

She wrote: “Blessed to have written this song in honour of Chadwick Boseman and even more blessed to hear the baddest @badgalriri voice it to perfection”.

Tems has shared her past adversities. The singer of "Try me" told up about coping with extreme poverty in an emotional interview with British GQ. She claimed that in order to get by, she had to steal food. She claimed that when she was in need of food, she would either steal it or go to her aunt's house to acquire it. Tems said, "I never thought I was pretty or had a nice voice. I had little self-esteem."

She wrote: “There were times when I was not just broke; I was broke and hopeless. I used to steal food. I used to go to my aunty’s house just so she could give me food to take home. I just felt like, what is the point of me existing right now? You have to remember those times. Because that person does not exist anymore.

I didn’t have any self-esteem. I didn’t think I was pretty. I didn’t even even think of my voice as anything. I just thought. There are so many people that can sing, I’m not a model, I don’t dance, but whatever chance I have, I’ll take it. Even if I end up singing under a bridge somewhere, I’ll be the best under-the-bridge singer ever”.
