When Wizkid hit the street, supporters immediately rushed to kiss his hand.

The Nigerian musician Ayodeji "Wizkid" Balogun is rarely spotted outside of events or on trips with his baby mother Jada Pollock and son Zion.

He was welcoming a group of people who were standing nearby in a video that has been going viral online as he was seated inside a car.

He reportedly stopped at the location of his Starboy Fest as crew members were setting up the space and conducting a sound check.

However, the musician recently made an exception for a few of his admirers by going out into the streets to talk to them.

They ran toward Wizkid after realizing he was in the car but before they knew it was him.

They aggressively rushed his hand as some could be seen attempting to kiss it after he asked how they were doing and extended his hand to shake some of them.

Others wanted to hold on to his hand and not let go, but a security guard stepped in to stop the awkward encounter from going horribly wrong. His name was being screamed in several various ways, including Wizkid, Wizzzy, Machala, and Starboy.

He wound up the car window and asked the driver to go when he felt like he had accomplished enough.

Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun and who was born on July 16, 1990, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. The Glorious Five (5), a group he and a few of his church buddies founded, published a joint CD with him when he was 11 years old. He started recording music at that age. In 2009, Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment and Wizkid agreed to a record deal. After the release of "Holla at Your Boy," the lead single from his debut studio album Superstar (2011), which also produced the hits "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull," he went on to become well-known. His second studio album, Ayo, which he self-titled, was released in September 2014. Six singles were released in support of the album, one of which was "Jaiye Jaiye." After his contract with E.M.E expired, Wizkid departed. Following his collaboration with Drake on the hit song "One Dance," which topped the charts in 14 more nations in addition to the US Billboard Hot 100, Wizkid gained popularity on a global scale in 2016. Wizkid became the first Afrobeats artist to be listed in the Guinness World Records after the song smashed numerous records. He signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records in March 2017, and later that year, his third studio album, Sounds from the Other Side, was published. Five singles were released to promote the album, one of which was "Come Closer" with Drake.

He was a part of the Normani and Calvin Harris song "Checklist" in 2018, which peaked at the top of the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. The tune "Brown Skin Girl," which also peaked at number one on the global digital song sales list, featured him on Beyoncé's album The Lion King: The Gift the following year and earned him a Grammy for Best Music Video. His fourth album, Made in Lagos, which debuted at the top of the Billboard World Album Chart in October 2020, was a commercial and critical triumph. The album included the Tems-featuring track "Essence," which made history as the first Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number ten thanks to a Justin Bieber remix. More Love, Less Ego, Wizkid's fifth studio album, is scheduled for release in 2022.

Wizkid, who has received over 3.4 billion plays across all of his credits on Spotify, was the most streamed Nigerian musician of all time by February 2021.
