Sha'aban called the threat to remove Buhari from office ludicrous and a tremendous joke while speaking to reporters in Kaduna on Wednesday. His statement that "some National Assembly members who have failed in their representative duties and lack what they will tell their constituents in seeking reelection, were behind the impeachment saga, as they want to use President Buhari as a scapegoat," was followed by an assertion that the threat was being carried out by the lawmakers for electoral purposes. Sha'aban, who served as the National Assembly representative for Zaria Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2007, stated, "I view the stand they (National Assembly members) made as a tremendous joke. In actuality, it is absurd. "One thing we should be aware of is that Nigeria is not acting alone; the rest of the world is keeping an eye on us. Even though we adopted the democratic system from the west, other parts of the world don't exercise democracy in the same way that we do. "We should be aware that the House of Representatives and the Senate are both governed by a number of committees, and that these committees are responsible for performing what are known as oversight tasks, but what is happening right now? Where are the control mechanisms? What happened to the reports on what was going on inside the security system?
So, if someone from the Senate or House of Representatives wakes up today and accuses President Buhari of failing to provide adequate security, I challenge that person to go and impeach Buhari tomorrow if he dares. "Millions of people in your constituency will point fingers at you as you do. You claim to speak for them. Will you find a fall guy when the going gets tough? And you want to hold Buhari accountable? "Was there ever a time when he approved a financial request, and the heads of the agencies and parastatals, the service chiefs, and others in charge of security... was there ever a time when the National Assembly penalized them?" he said. Why President Buhari, then? Who is lying to whom? Let's take this issue extremely seriously, then. "I'm from Zaria, and there's nowhere else in the world I can appreciate, respect, and value more than my home." Since Zaria is where I'm from, I can never feel at home anywhere else in the world until I arrive there.
However, you can hardly get any sleep right now because bandits are occupying Zaria. This is not a joke, so. Our farmers are unable to work their land, our schools are closed, along with a great number of other institutions, and we can hardly leave the house to carry out even the most basic daily tasks without running the risk of being abducted by robbers. "Look at Kajuru, Giwa, Birnin-Gwari, and Chikun. These are all areas of Kaduna where, whether you like it or not, you have to leave because you cannot afford to stay past 6:00pm. Then again, someone might merely show there because he feels the timing is right to run again and return to the National Assembly, and he doesn't want his constituents to inquire about his performance as their Senator or Representative. So, he might be claiming that Buhari is to blame. That is complete BS. We must be honest with ourselves.
