Indian mother battles tiger to protect son

An official reported on Wednesday that an Indian mother used her bare hands to repel a tiger and free her kid from its jaws. On Sunday night in the central state of Madhya Pradesh, Archana Choudhary left her home as the 15-month-old child needed to go to the bathroom. According to local official Sanjeev Shrivastava, a tiger thought to have strayed from the adjacent Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve pounced on them. He claimed that as it attacked and tried to bite into the child's head, the mother sprang to his rescue. Until the villagers heard her screams and came to her aid, the tiger persisted in trying to take the boy. After that, the tiger slithered into the forest. "She was given a hospital admission. She is no longer in danger and is healing. The infant is doing well, too," Shrivastava said. The mother sustained injuries to her belly and lungs, while the toddler had deep head gashes.

The Times of India reported that locals had been ordered to stay indoors throughout the night as part of a search operation to drive the tiger back to its territory. As more and more forest is lost to urban growth in South Asia, there has been an increase in conflicts between humans and animals. According to government statistics, tiger attacks in India claimed the lives of close to 225 people between 2014 and 2019. According to the data, over 200 tigers were electrocuted or murdered by poachers between 2012 and 2018.Around 70% of the tigers in the world reside in India, where there were 2,967 tigers as of 2018.
