Ifeoluwa Florence Otedola, better known as Cuppy, celebrates her graduation from Oxford University.
The recent graduate informed her followers on Twitter that she had registered for a master's degree in African studies.
Cuppy claims that even if she didn't receive a distinction or merit, she is still pleased to have passed.
She acknowledged that her road had been challenging, but she was thrilled to be among those who had graduated from the esteemed school.
She penned:
"I received the classification for my MSc degree from my THESIS. Despite not receiving a Merit or a Distinction, I SUCCEEDED!
"After a challenging year, I can now declare that I have graduated from @UniofOxford, and I couldn't be more proud of myself. The Glory belongs to God.
Disc jockey and producer Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, also known as DJ Cuppy or just Cuppy, was born in Nigeria on November 11, 1992. She is the offspring of Femi Otedola, a businessman from Nigeria. She was raised in Lagos before relocating to London at age 13.
Prior to coming to Ikeja, Cuppy spent six years living in Ilupeju. There, she attended Grange School, Ikeja. For her GCSEs and A-Levels, she then moved to London. She earned a degree in business and economics from King's College London in July 2014. 2015 saw her complete a master's program in music business at New York University. Cuppy has enrolled at the University of Oxford as of October 2021 and is working on a master's degree in African Studies there.
Cuppy performed regularly at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban in 2014. The Tatler and Christie's Art Ball in London followed, followed by the Financial Times Business of Luxury Summit in Mexico City, where she performed.
She debuted House of Cuppy, her debut compilation mix, in London and Lagos in July 2014 before releasing it in New York on September 2. She created EDM-inspired remixes of songs by prominent afropop musicians under the name House of Cuppy.
Red Velvet Music Group, a music management and content production company based in London, was also established by Cuppy in the same year.
Cuppy was seen on the cover of the Guardian Life magazine in January 2015. A new generation of African women were honored on the cover. Cuppy, the first African act to perform at the event, was selected the official DJ for the 2015 Oil Barons Charity in Dubai in March 2015. She was highlighted in Forbes Woman Africa's April/May 2015 issue.
Cuppy published House of Cuppy II in June 2015.
Cuppy embarked on her maiden DJ tour, dubbed "Cuppy Takes Africa," to eight African nations in August 2015. She traveled to South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Senegal, and Nigeria. The Dangote Foundation and GTB Bank sponsored the "Cuppy Takes Africa" tour, which featured performances and significant artist collaborations. She worked as an intern at Roc Nation later that year.
An eight-part documentary series about the "Cuppy Takes Africa" tour aired on Fox Life Africa in October 2016. In 2016, Cuppy served as the on-air DJ for Charlamagne Tha God's Uncommon Sense on MTV2.
