Idowu Phillips (born 16 October 1942), popularly known as Iya Rainbow, is a Nigerian veteran actress. Southwest Nigeria's Ogun State is home to Ijebu Ode, where Idowu Philips was born on October 16, 1942. For her primary and secondary schooling, she went to African Methodist School and Anglican Modern School. Her stage name, "Iya Rainbow," is derived from Sir Hubert Ogunde's late theater company, Osumare, which in British English means "rainbow." Ogunde passed away in 1990. Idowu Philips spent several years as a healthcare assistant at general hospitals in Nigeria while also acting on occasion in plays. After the passing of her husband, Augustine Ayanfemi Phillips, who had a close working relationship with the late patriarch of the Nigerian film industry, Sir Herbert Ogunde, Idowu decided to pursue acting full-time. She has appeared in a number of Nigerian movies (among them, Apaadi, Eru, and Aje ni iya mi). Five kids are raised by Idowu.
Idowu Philips represents the brand of the telecommunications business Airtel. Idowu Philip also serves as an ambassador for Yotomi Golden Estate, a project for low-cost homes started by the late film industry tycoon Alade Aromire.
