The ruling party in Angola wins the presidential election.

 The People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola, the country's ruling party, was named the victor of the 2022 general election last week. According to results released on Monday by the National Electoral Commission, the party received 51.17 percent of all ballots cast. According to the CNE, the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola, the largest opposition party in the country, received 43.95 percent of all votes cast. The MPLA took home 124 of the 220 seats in the National Assembly, according to the official results. With 90 seats in the legislature, the UNITA came in second. According to the Angolan constitution, the President was chosen by the political party whose leading candidate received the most votes.
