"Avoid becoming sidetracked by information on GBV prevalence numbers, the severity of a case, or pressure coming from several directions. Dantsoho advised that you provide sufficient data collection for suitable planning strategy and work together with other players to get timely support. She added that the state government had made sure that all parties involved in the effort to minimize GBV were properly coordinated on platforms that would facilitate smooth operations throughout the state. She claimed that the state's administration helped pass the Child Protection Law, the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, and other just laws that were consistent with sociocultural and religious standards. Malam Rabi'u Gandi, the state chairman of the GBV Response Team, and Dr. Mansur Buhari of Usamu Danfodio University in Sokoto earlier praised the GBV reduction efforts as the savior of humanity in their statements. The presenters focused on abuse types, prevalence rates, social and economic effects, media coverage, and law enforcement personnel.
The government of Sokoto State has urged its citizens to band together and stop the rise of gender-based violence. Hajia A'isha Dantsoho, the permanent secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, asked stakeholders to take a comprehensive strategy to addressing GBV cases in the communities. Dantsoho made the statement on Tuesday in the state during a GBV case management capacity-building program for stakeholders that was put on by a nongovernmental organization, Zaki's Gem Support Foundation. She emphasized the importance of stakeholders supporting GBV survivors at all levels and pleaded with them not to get sidetracked by the obstacles they face. "A comprehensive strategy will guarantee that actors provide holistic case management and guarantee that survivors receive the pertinent services they require at the proper moments.
Mrs. Nafisa Abubakar-Zaki, the facilitator and coordinator of Zaki's Gem Support Foundation, led participants in discussions, shared experiences, and gave lectures on the best ways to handle GBV cases from the point of occurrence onward, including referrals, reporting offenders, prosecution, and other elements of GBV management. She claimed that the days when boys and men were immune to rape or molestation were long gone and that statistics now showed that neither gender was immune to violence. However, she urged people who had been the victims of such violence to constantly speak out and seek assistance. She also urged state residents, particularly those who lived in rural areas, to always call attention to those who had committed such crimes.
