The Academic Staff Union of Universities refuted claims in the media that the union intended to boycott talks with the federal government. This was refuted in a conversation with our correspondent by Dr. Gbolahan Bolarin, the chairperson of ASUU at Federal University of Technology Minna and a member of the National Executive Council. According to several sources cited in media reports, ASUU contemplated boycotting future negotiations with the government during its NEC meeting. The information from Port Harcourt interviewed Gbolahan, who asserted, "We never mentioned that, who are we going to engage with if not them? Nigerians should cease spreading misinformation and fake news in the name of breaking news first or in an effort to alienate those with good intentions who were working for the betterment of their country. Following a six-month strike, there were allegations that ASUU had launched an indefinite strike on August 29, 2022.
