Messi might retire wearing a Barcelona shirt, according to Laporta

According to Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, Lionel Messi should finish his career "in a Barca shirt. After 17 years in the Barcelona first squad, Messi left the Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain last summer as the Catalan giants struggled financially. Laporta, however, is optimistic that the 35-year-old will be able to visit Barcelona once more before hanging up his boots. During the team's preseason tour of the United States, he told the Spanish press, "Messi's tenure at Barca didn't end as we all would've liked." "I think Barca owe Leo Messi a debt of moral decency. We want him to finish his career wearing a Barca shirt and to be greeted with cheers everywhere he goes.

Messi, whose PSG contract includes an option for an additional year, has one season left to play, according to Laporta, who added that "nothing has been discussed." I think we'll make this ambition come true, therefore it was only a temporary halt (to his Barca career)," he continued. In his first season with PSG, Messi managed just 11 goals in all competitions, his fewest goals in a season since 2007-08.
