Imo village women protest youth killings.

In protest of the alleged murder of one of their sons, Kelechi Ogbonna, 25, by the state-owned Ebubeagu security personnel, the women of Amaeshe in Oguta 1 in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State took to the streets early on Monday. The women marched while wearing all-black apparel and urged the appropriate authorities to bring their son's killers to justice. They also wanted to stop the killing of young people by Ebubeagu security personnel. They specifically urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd), the Inspector General of Police, Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo state, and Amnesty International to make sure that those responsible for the student's murder would face the full force of the law.

In her address to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the neighborhood, the women's leader, Mrs. Nkeiru Ugoagwu, urged the authorities to prevent the death of Ogbonna from being ignored. She claimed that the mothers were distressed because their son was killed when he was still young. Our hearts are heavy, another woman who introduced herself as Mrs. Njoku remarked. We suffer severe pain. Allow the government to prosecute the murderers. We reject these murders. Our children's blood is incredibly valuable. We've had enough. Justice is necessary. Kelechi shouldn't have gone out that way. The DPO acknowledged the women's orderly behavior in his response and told them that he would relay their message to his superiors.
