Buhari rejoices on Amusan's record-breaking sports gold victory.

 On Monday, Tobi Amusan received heartfelt congratulations from the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), for winning the women's 100-meter hurdles gold medal for Nigeria at the World Athletics Championship 2022. Amusan's accomplishment in the sports competition's semifinals established a new global record, and she became the first Nigerian woman to win a World Championship. The President commended the track star for bringing the Nigerian national anthem back to life from the world stage, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina. "President Buhari praises track superstar, Amusan, for winning gold at the international athletics competition," reads the statement.

"The President joins millions of Nigerians in celebrating this great feat by a compatriot and two-time champion of the African Games, who in one night astonished the athletics world with her spectacular and stellar performance," Adesina said. The President expresses gratitude to the track star for bringing the national song of Nigeria back to life on the world stage and leaving the nation with unforgettable emotions like tears of joy and triumph, hope and victory, incredulity and belief. The famous career and accomplishments of the golden girl, according to President Buhari, will continue to motivate future generations of Nigerian athletes to achieve extraordinary success. Ese Brume, who represented Nigeria honorably and with pride by earning a silver medal in the women's long jump competition, also received praise from Buhari.



He praised Team Nigeria for showing bravery, integrity, and excellent sportsmanship on the international stage and for demonstrating that success is possible with effort and willpower.
