Abolishing the indiscriminate sale of land, according to Obika, was done to prevent the community's children from becoming lazy as a result of the money made from such transactions."We have convened here to take action to fix some of the factors that have been creating it," he stated, expressing his sadness at the current level of insecurity in the Nteje community. "One thing I know for sure is that neither the Eastern Security Network nor the Indigenous People of Biafra have any members among our youths. But we are taking measures to control the restless young that we have. We have decided that from today, all youth-related activities in the community must be stopped, along with all young leadership.
"Some people have turned into terrors in the community while posing as young leaders, and this must stop. When we are prepared to organize elections for youth groups, we will make the announcement, and the people—rather than a single person—will choose their leaders. Additionally, indiscriminate property sales have made our youths sluggish and dependent solely on land sales for revenue. This has led to the illicit sale of the majority of our land. "Starting today, everyone who wishes to sell land must notify their family, who will then inform the Ojiana (custodians of tradition), who will then alert the local government. Likewise for anyone looking to purchase land in Nteje. The community also announced after the meeting that it would start the registration process for all outsiders residing there after learning that some of them were contributing to the local insecurity.
