The result of Newcastle United vs Liverpool makes Keita puts pressure on Man City

Liverpool went to Newcastle United seeking for a win in order to keep their title hopes alive, and they got it.

Thanks to a 1-0 victory gained with a first-half strike from Naby Keita, the Reds returned to the top of the standings, despite having played one game more than Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp made a number of changes, including James Milner in midfield and Joe Gomez at right-back, and the Magpies caused issues with their pressing and numbers in attack.

Liverpool, on the other hand, began to settle into the game, taking the time and space to slow things down and find their stride.

Their goal was contentious, with Newcastle claiming a foul for Milner's late challenge on Fabian Schar, who remained down, but referee Andre Marriner remained unconvinced. When Jordan Henderson flicked the ball out wide, Keita connected beautifully with Diogo Jota before sprinting for goal from the right flank, keeping his cool to evade the onrushing Martin Dubravka and finish well past two defenders on the line.

From then on, Liverpool was fairly professional, even if Newcastle's direct style and intense pressing caused them problems at times. Despite some eye-catching moments, Allan Saint-Maximin started in a centre spot with freedom to move, but he failed to have an influence on the game.
